Shared values.
Practical leadership.
A better future for our island.
An independent voice focused on what works for Jersey.
If you are reading this page, you are probably trying to answer a simple question:
Who is this person, and why should I consider voting for him?
The answer is not just in a list of promises. It is in the values that shape how someone thinks about the Island we share.
Over the past year I have written regularly in the Jersey Evening Post about Jersey – about our economy, housing, health and care, culture, and the future we are building together. Those articles are organised on this site into themes, but together they express something deeper than individual policies.
They reflect a set of values I hold about how our Island should work.
In many ways, this blog is an open conversation about the kind of Island we want Jersey to be.
If those values feel familiar to you – if they sound like the kind of Jersey you want to see – then perhaps we are already starting from the same place.
The articles on this site fall into five themes. Each one signals something about the kind of public life I believe Jersey needs.
These themes have grown organically through writing and conversation. They reflect feedback from Islanders, discussions with readers, and the experience of a lifetime spent working with people and communities.
A Fair Deal for Islanders
Fairness without ideology. Fiscal seriousness without austerity.
Policies that balance compassion with responsibility and focus on practical results.
Homes That Work
Housing policy that faces reality and supports younger Islanders.
Helping people build their lives here while respecting the investment and security that homes represent for many families.
Care That Counts
Health and care systems that work for patients, staff and taxpayers.
Transparent, accountable services that deliver better outcomes.
One Island – A Shared Future
An Island confident enough to work together.
Across parishes, communities and with our neighbours in Guernsey.
Roots and Renewal
Respect for Jersey’s traditions alongside a willingness to adapt.
Honouring our history while renewing it for the future.
If these values feel familiar to you, then we may already be working towards the same future for our Island.
These themes are not a campaign slogan or a marketing exercise. They have emerged gradually through writing, discussion, and feedback from Islanders who care about where our Island is heading.
My own approach to public life has also been shaped by experience. I spent forty years working as a registered nurse. Nursing teaches you quickly that progress and recovery rarely happens because one person claims to have all the answers. It happens when people work together with compassion, honesty, practical judgement, and a shared sense of purpose.
That spirit of practical cooperation is the kind of leadership I believe Jersey now needs.
If you find yourself agreeing with many of these ideas, that is probably not an accident. It simply means we may see our Island in similar ways. And when voters and candidates share the same instincts about fairness, responsibility, and practical reform, good things can happen.
If the values expressed through this blog resonate with you, I ask for your vote.
If they do not, that too is part of a healthy democracy. Jersey works best when Islanders take part, express their views, and vote for the future they believe in.
So even if you decide not to give me one of your nine votes, I hope you will still take part in the election. Our Island deserves an engaged public and an active democracy.
But if, as you read these pages, you recognise something of your own values here – a belief in fairness, practical reform, and shared responsibility for our future – then perhaps we can take the next step together.
Together we can make our Island work better again.
My commitment to you

If elected, I will serve Jersey with independence, with honesty about the challenges we face and with a constant focus on what works for Islanders.

Calm leadership. Practical reform. A better Jersey today and tomorrow.
