Having had a day or so to reflect on how grateful I am for the experience we have just shared. Crikey, and what an experience it was.
Two things I had not expected. The first was the growing respect I felt for my fellow Senatorial candidates. We shared 13 times in public so much of who we are, why we were there and what we believed. That is an extraordinary thing for relative strangers to do.
The second thing I did not expect was how that contact and respect ‘bled’ into the Deputy and Connétable contests. I got a real sense that, for all 92 of us, our shared and sincere endeavour created some ineffable quality. For me, hard to explain. Easy to feel. For a lifetime.
With my heartfelt thanks to all those who helped me with my own journey. I had so much to learn. Still do.
